Hello, my name is Mikael, a.k.a. Inscius.
This blog is about some things that interest me. I have no subject theme for this blog, so I do not know myself what the result will be. Maybe this weblog can be seen as a rant with a collection of bookmarked URLs 😉
I try to keep this blog as freedom and integrity friendly as possible. I do not know the inner workings of WordPress, but I will never put e.g. google analytics on this site. I have disabled google fonts. As far as I can see the only cookie set is from inscius.se, not sure what it does to be honest. It is part of the default WordPress installation. In order to check how sites track, I recommend NoScript on Firefox, or something similar. The Firefox plugin Request Policy can also give you some interesting info how the page you visit refers to other sites, and the ability to block that. If you did not know, there are google cookies on very many sites these days, and the amount of facebook and other cookies increase, too. It’s like the food store would know your last visit to the shoe shop, the gas/petrol station and your visit to the town hall, and your activities in those places. Request Policy shows that for this site, requests are sent to creativecommons.org. If you are reading a post, it is also fetching avatars from Gravatar. I am not using Gravatar myself, but I have left it active since it is popular.
I have owned and used computers for more than 25 years, but it is not until the past few years I realised what free software is, and why it is important. It is the subject of some of my posts.
Posts are in English (categorized as English) or Swedish (categorized as Svenska). I will probably not translate anything, so in order to understand all posts, you have to be able to read all of them. Posting in two languages also makes tagging a bit of a problem, but it’s not the end of the world. I am not a native English speaker, so if you spot any strange wording, I am grateful for feedback 🙂
This site features one page about freely licensed music I update quite regularly. It’s an overview of music under Creative Commons licences and in the public domain. There are probably better guides in English (if you know of any, please tell me). However, my post is quite correct in English through Google translate, with a few minor quirks. It is kind of scary what machine translation can do these days (lol). Please note that my page about free music have a freer license (CC-BY-SA) than the rest of this site (inscius.se). I have not checked the Google translator on my other Swedish posts, but the curious can always try. It might even improve my originals 😉
Sometimes, I do podcasting. I am a member of The Duffercast, and have also made a few appearances on other casts, all of them part of the free software/free culture community.
