Today it is exactly one hundred years since Finland declared its independence.
Big congratulations. Sending a big virtual birthday cake across the water to our Nordic neighbor!

I’m a day late — as ever — but happy belated birthday to Finland. I hadn’t realised the country was so young.
Before 1917 they were a part of Russia for about 100 years. Before that, part of Sweden for about 600 years. I hope they stay independent as long as they wish for. They certainly have more sisu (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sisu) than the Swedes :p
Sisu… I learned something! Your blog is certainly educational 😉
I read up a bit on Finland’s history after seeing your post. I was amazed to see that they even tried to establish a monarchy in 1918.
Thank you. But this blog being educational…? I must do something wrong then! 😉
As for the monarchy thing… even the sun has its spots, I guess. 😉
Educational is all relative. My kids all thought I knew a lot until they started going to school 😉
Hehe
That process is life-long. E.g. we think we know a lot until we become parents.
Indeed. I’m still discovering just how little I know 😉
Oops. That should have been a reply to the above reply.
Oh no, aesthetic anarchy! 😉
I’m just not very good with computers 😉
:chortle:
Well, I thought you surfed the web with your iPhöne?
Watch your iLanguage, young man 😉
Eye-language? Is that like 😉 ?
Heh… There’s no answer to that 😉
