Baked 2025

Another recurrent topic... 'tis the season.

I already started making some seasonal bread and pastries, as I was planning to have a First Sunday of Advent fika (coffee and cake) for my closest family. Last year I didn't so thought of reviving it. But, the flu/cold season is doing the rounds (child day care is a big spreader), so probably will postpone it.

Christmas is an anchor in time, it has been celebrated for a very long time, in many parts of the World. It does come back every year. Continuity, even if parts of it of course change over time.

Revolutionairies/resetters do not like Christmas celebrations much. They want another counting of years.

Recently, I heard that traditionally Advent is a period of fasting, not as Lent, but still moderation and (mild?) penance. Otoh, Advent Sundays is probably not for fasting 😉

Christmas will be very small, or even non-existent for me 2025. Or maybe another form.

Anyway, I been baking bread with sourdough for some time now. Checking back on my old posts, seems at least since 2023, which is longer than I thought. Two days ago I baked Yule bread with only sourdough, no yeast cheating! It turned out great!

I wonder if I can make Lucia buns, too, with sourdough? Bring balance to the force of sweet pastry 😛
