As a child I had an astronaut doll. I looked it up on ebay, and it was made by Mattel in 1966. It has a metal wire skeleton and then rubber (or rubberish plastic) as body, I remember me and my younger brother bent the arms and legs in funny angles, so some of the "joints" wore out. The knees broke. This was well before anyone took an arrow in the knee! Some years ago I came across the lower legs, and hoped maybe the rest of the body would turn up. And it did. This year I found it in a box with assorted "rubbish".

I glued on the legs, but it is very brittle. The helmet is long gone, and I do not even remember having it. I also wonder if NASA astronauts had rubber galoshes with zippers? It sure looks like it.

The featured image has right leg at (in?) an odd angle. I noticed that after taking it.

Next year, astronaut is 60 (!) years old! If I, in 1966, had had a toy sixty years old, it would have been from early 20th century, well before WW1. I feel old...

Now is a new space era, but gravity does feel stronger 😛
