Artificial intelligence. It's not intelligence. But it is artifical. Artificial might not be bad. Something constructed. The pretension that it is intelligence is narcissistic, dumb and also by now quite boring. It is old, and arrogance is built into it. Come to think of it, quite a lot of I.T. proponents seem to have some sort of hubris. Some is just sales talk, e.g. "our ai is so powerful, we might lose control in 10 years", some is like a religion. Even back with ELIZA, some people, to Weizenbaums surprise, seriously anthropomorphized the bot.

Even without the bots, people still claim (and I heard this even in the 70s), "the computer says this, so it must be correct".

Very long time ago, even before I used computers, I stumbled upon his book about it. Maybe I should reread it. It did somewhat inoculate me from the highfalutin worship of machines.

So... I, with great humility, I propose some humility! A few suggestions what the acronym really stands for:

1. Algorithmic Inference

2. Adenoid Influencer

3. Amygdala Inflammation

4. Antropomorphized Idiocy

5. Anasthetic Idolatry

6. Artificial Invertabrate

7. Appearance Involuntarism

We are surrounded by "smart", so maybe it should be called

8. Smartificial Indolence.
